A tasty twist on a classic: Cauliflower steak, crispy and cheesy.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cauliflower
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt sauce
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 tomato slices
  • 2 mozzarella slices
  • Oregano

Instructions:

  1. Make the Batter: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, Greek yogurt sauce, salt, and pepper to create a flavorful batter.
  2. Prepare the Cauliflower: Trim the leaves and stem from the cauliflower and cut it into thick slices, approximately 2 cm thick.
  3. Batter the Slices: Dip each cauliflower slice into the prepared batter, ensuring that all sides are evenly coated.
  4. Pan-Fry the Cauliflower: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the battered cauliflower slices and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Add Toppings: Transfer the cooked cauliflower slices to a baking dish. Top each slice with a slice of tomato and a slice of mozzarella cheese.
  6. Broil in the Oven: Sprinkle oregano over the assembled cauliflower steaks. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) and bake the cauliflower steaks for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Serve Hot: Remove the cauliflower steaks from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together and ensures that the steaks are easy to handle.
